Big Grin PC Is The Future

    PC Is The Future

Latest PC News by Ben Biggs

Paradox CEO predicts the end of consoles.

Paradox Interactive has pitched in with his own prediction of the end of console, and the future of PC gaming. “The next generation of console hardware will probably be the last,” said Paradox CEO Frederik Wester to journalists at the Paradox annual showcase, “I’d be surprised if we see another generation after that.”

The Stockholm-based company publishes PC titles like Mount & Blade, Cities In Motion and the Majesty series, and launched major digital distributor GamersGate in 2006. Since its founding in 1998, Paradox has gone from strength to strength to become a major player in the PC market.

This could explain, in part, the PC bias of Wester’s statements, though he went on to explain his belief that digital would replace boxed retail and mobile platforms would be big part of the games industry’s future. Which in the current climate, isn’t such a mind-blowing statement.

I don't know if he is right about the "end" of the gaming console, or not. I don't own one myself, but I have friends that do and they love them. For myself, I play games on my new PC, which is the main reason I built it.

I guess only time will tell, on whether the gaming console is a thing of the past. I am not much into gaming myself, unless BigGuy "forces" me to play once in a while, but I know plenty of people who still use gaming consoles.

No, don't put that one into a bad perspective. Pc / gaming boxes can survive even with SOPA and PIPA firewall in place...but the whole interwebs will be at its darkest phase. Let's hope I'm wrong.

i can't see why the PC can't out perform consoles, hardware has really accelerated over the last couple of years, and few programs can tax the high end PC's.. maybe it will be personell choice for many and they will only see the pc as way to send e-mails type a few letters and surf the web, as long as we can curtail our cyber use and smell the roses all is well.
