OpenDNS introduces FamilyShield: Parents educate yourself and your family
Use FamilyShield to quickly and easily secure your Internet
What does FamilyShield block?
*
Adult websites that are unsuitable for kids
*
Proxy and anonymizer sites commonly used by savvy kids to bypass traditional Web filters
*
Phishing sites that aim to trick you into handing over personal or financial information
*
Some virus-spreading malware websites *: What's the difference between FamilyShield and OpenDNS Basic?
Choose
FamilyShield if you're looking for a quick, no-fuss way to protect your children from adult content online for free. Choose
OpenDNS Basic if you'd like a more customizable alternative — you can block or unblock lots of other types of sites, see reports on how your family uses your Internet connection, and more. OpenDNS Basic offers everything FamilyShield does, and it's also free, but it requires a few extra setup and customization steps.
FamilyShield is completely free and easy to set up

I have always been using OpenDNS Basic...but since I have a dynamic IP and I wanted to use the filtering service, I had to download and install OpenDNS Updater which can actually be annoying at times...
FamilyShield seems to be a good implementation for those of us with dynamic IP address and do not want to install the OpenDNS Updater. The only thing that's making me refrain from using this for now (I'm still considering of using it) is the lack of customization (which OpenDNS Basic provides)...there seems to be no way I can 'whitelist' sites which may be blocked by FamilyShield...ouch
They call me the mysterious one...
my motto is...when it's hot, chill baby
