I have discussed these issues with a number of people and all of them are affected by it. This is something that is very surprising when competing free products do not exhibit such traits. So much for being light weight. A recent test at raymond.cc confirmed the performance hit caused by MSE. It was the worst scorer among all freebies tested.

Go to the above-quoted Wilders thread...there seems to be a problem in the current MSE itself...and hopefully the new version will 'fix' this.

Apart from that, I really wish MS listen to the requests of folks like me who wants the MSE updates to be released from a different channel from WU. If they're never ever gonna do that, then no thanks I'll constantly skip MSE in favor of some other AV. And I dare bet I'm not alone in this case...

@ Sujay, I read that the download works in IE with file transfer manager plugin installed but a location to download the file must be specified in FTM.
