    I think that the Avast! Business model is obvious: they probably want to beat the competitors.
    In regards to Avast detection rate is quite high.
    Eitherway, as already said by ceyfer, be careful if you plan to use Avast v 6 beta, that's only for advanced users, not to count that according to an Avast "evangelist": Avast 5.1 is still a little buggy.
    Well I'm using Avast 5.1 and it works fine, very light in memory usage, very good detection rate, very good real time protection

    Their competitors have every right to worry as avast Free Antivirus is becoming more pack with goodies and from what I read in avast forum, they plan to keep it tight and mean.
    I agree with leofelix that avast detection is quite high.

    Avast "evangelist": Avast 5.1 is still a little buggy.
    Have seen it on Xp machines. There's a slight tardiness on some of its components. Not a serious issue.

    Their competitors have every right to worry
