Comodo IS and AV are dismal
i wonder why Avira is rated higher than Kaspersky and BitDefender?
according to AV-Test.org KIS and BD are top of the stack with Avira being a laggard?!
    dunno what to trust

The ratings varies because every independent testers uses different sets of malwares to perform the test.
Most importantly is to know where they stand (top 3, top 5) today.

Based on that horribly muddled graph, not sure I'd trust them

on the contrary i'm more likely to trust someone with a muddled graph as result rather than someone(read AV-Test/PCMag) with clear cut(and dried) results
real world tests are never that conclusive as some testers try to portray

I'm not talking about the results, but rather they way they are presented. That graph is a horror to read. A Guy

A Guy, that graph is only one small information provided for free by Virus Bulletin.
If you are a paid subscriber, there are very detailed results for every tests being performed.
