Depends on what you're using it for and how much you're willing to learn about Linux. If you want something simple to set up, I stand by Ubuntu Server 8.04.3 or Fedora 11. Fedora is based on Red Hat code, Ubuntu on Debian. I find personally, Ubuntu's the easier one, but I've only used it in the home server environment. If you're looking for a commercial grade Linux distro, Ubuntu still fits, though you'll need to pay for expert support. (Or post on our Linux subforum.)
That's my personal two cents, I know some people swear by others, but my personal choices are Ubuntu or Fedora. Both are light, easy to run, though I don't think Fedora has a server install (off the top of my head at least).

The standard 'server' install on Fedora 11 is a Web Server, via Apache.

While Ubuntu us an all purpose server, I guess. You choose when you install.

FileZilla is a FTP server softwares that runs on an operating system. It's not an OS itself.
