Increase or re-size C: partition for Dell PowerEdge server
Could you please advise the best way to re-size the C: partition?
The Dell PowerEdge Server has previously configured with C: drive/partition is about 12GB and remaining is for D: partition. Currently the C: drive is running very low available free disk space (about 1GB), but D: drive still have plenty of space which more 100GB.
There are many third party software tools (eg. partition magic) which can do the re-size of partition, but we are still uncomfortable with those tools as there are mainly and suitable for desktops or laptops, we doubt if those tools are working fine for server, simple because the SCSI or RAID controller may not able to allow those tools to do the job perfectly.
We are very worry if those tools crash the entire storage system and causing server cannot function or cannot start-up. Also because we do not have a good backup software to restore back to original state (before the using those tools).
Please advise, Many thanks in advance.

We did this on a W2003 Poweredge 440 using Gparted Magic, worked fine. Just make sure you have your backups and restore CD's ready in case you have a problem
