ASC Pro startup manager ???
In the startup manager of the (just released) latest version of Advanced System Care Pro (which I installed 2 days ago) I stumbled upon an entry for Comodo Firewall. What makes the entry curious is that Comodo in not installed on my system, nor has it ever been installed on it. I unchecked the entry in the box, clicked apply and OK, but when I leave the startup manager and come back to it, it is checked again. If I delete the entry, leave startup manager and come back to it, there is a new, checked entry of Comodo Firewall, besides the old one still being there. In short: whatever I do to get rid of the entry, the program keeps making new checked entries. It refers to the folder C:\Program Files\Comodo etc. which does not exist on my PC.
Any suggestions as to what this might mean?

Perhaps it never uninstalled properly.

Yes that is what I would think, and Comodo does a lousy uninstallation job indeed. But the problem is: Comodo has never been installed on this PC, which makes this startup entry enigmatic. And what makes it come back all the time. So, could anybody with ASC Pro (latest release) please check his startup manager and look for this entry?

That's strange,I had CPF installed about 7 months ago and I'm not seeing this entry your speaking about. Can I ask if you bought this computer new?The only reason I asked you this is because it might of been a previous install.

You are probably right, I guess Comodo must have been installed on this PC at one time, even though I have no knowledge of it. The problem, as I found in the meantime, consists of 2 registry keys, which cannot be deleted either by ASC or manually. There are yet two other keys which cannot be deleted, both of them leftovers from Threatfire, which I uninstalled the other. I will try Raymonds instruction his today's blog to get rid of those four keys. For the moment I leave it as it is now.
Thanks for your help, Saturnguy.
The good thing is that all this puzzling made me discover a very minor bug in ASC Pro, which is that it reports to have fixed certain registry problems, while in fact these keys could not be repaired (that is: deleted).

Could you post back your results from doing this?

Many antivirus program install non-plug and play device drivers into your windows hardware enumeration section of the registry. If you open device manager and select view, show hidden devices you may find a leftover service that never got removed during uninstall listed in the non plug and play drivers section.
If you do find such an entry, perform a system restore save point, then boot to safe made and remove the non plug and play device in safemode, and remove the startup entry from the registry so the device isn't being rehooked. Then restart your computer.
If this doesn't get rid of it, consider using registy crawler version 4 to parse your system registry for any entries related to the program. I use it alot for performing manual application removal cleanups. http://www.4developers.com/regc/index.htm
Cheers.
