if AVG and Avira, I will choose Avira
but with Rising Anti Virus, i will choose RAV(Rising Anti Virus free edition)
    There is no best antivirus.

I'd go with Avira myself, I've never trusted AVG any after a recent false alarm on the computer in the basement.

I tried AVG, Avira and finally stoped on Avast, because AVG is too hard for my system, Avira annoyed with that popping-up advert after each update and has often problems when data-base updating and Avast is suites me fine as it updates even with slow internet connection automatically and i never get vista notifications that it delays some process or whatever.

None of them is enough for protection. Avira free lacks antispyware module and Avg lacks antirootkit. Avast is far better compared to them. Avira free 9 will have this module in it but wait and see. I use AVASt
    Windows Vista Home Premium
Comodo FW AVG Antivirus free MBAM Glary Utilities

There cannot be any competition between AVG 8.0 and Avira Free.

AVG is a bloatware with mediocre protection in comparison with Avira. Without any doubts, go for Avira

Avast have bad detection rate and lot of false positive , AVG 7.5 is far better than 8.0
