Windows 7 RC and Windows 7 final release

I’m currently using Vista Ultimate and this is what I’m wondering about.

If I install Windows 7 RC and use it until the official Win 7 is out, will it be able to update to the official version through windows update or again I will have to reinstall my OS. Of course M$ should give some evaluation time to activate the official release. I mean, Win 7 RC has already very good critics everywhere, so I suppose that it will be a decent OS to use.

If someone has read an article about this matter please share your findings.

You would have to reinstall your OS. Not completely sure, but there's a pretty big chance.

I have been using Windows 7 Beta before Windows 7 RC out, when RC out, the installer tell me to reformat. So i modified some of the files, no reformating or anything similar.

not so sure.. I've read on a coupla windows7 forums that updating should be possible.. but no confirmation on it thoh

One thing I am sure of is i'm buyin it when it comes out! Ive been using it since the RC was made public n its sooo much better on my machine than Vista! its smoother, faster n gave me an hour of extra battry life !

I doubt that a reformat would be required (I installed 7Beta over the top of my Vista without having to reformat. ALL of my old data was saved in C:\Windows.old). As generous as they have been with the Beta/RC releases, I suspect that they will provide an easy upgrade path.

mydigitallife has posted a trick to enable upgrades from beta to rc by editing a simple file. Hope that will also be used on the rc to official
