New programs would not dump away Vista capability because there is still have Vista users.

Yes. Same price from XP, or Vista...but wait. It gets even better...let me go to a link & come back with details...Home Premium$49.95, Pro $99.95...hang on, I'll be right back!

    EDIT:

I'm back. Here it is: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/buy/offers/pre-order-email.aspx

The confusion, so far with the offer, is that none of the retailers, nor M$ can explain exactly how it is packaged. According to M$, both the 32 & 64 bit versions are on the same DVD. While many DVD players can run 2-layer, most cannot. I am therefore guessing that they are doing the same as Canonical: side a= 32bit, side b=64bit. If that is the case, I'll buy one, and upgrade this laptop (64) bit, and the older 32 bit one. I might have to update the older machine manually, but so what!!!

I believe most people in this forum will be upgrading to Windows 7.

My old Acer laptop will continue to use XP Pro but my new Acer laptop which my wife is currently using will definitely be upgraded from Vista to Windows 7.

My desktop, currently also on XP, will be upgraded to Windws 7 IF I find it stable and better than Vista.
