new compaq laptop

My friend bought a new compaq laptop, but after installing windows vista ultimate it results to blue screen.

I know some were recalled a while back.My sister got her Compaq fixed and it was 6 months out of warranty.

if i were you i'd get it replaced. too much repairs makes a new laptop makes it "brittle" in my experience

Try reinstalling it...or else get it replaced...i have already seen this problem in my friend's laptop.he got his laptop replaced when he approached service center.

How about we get some other answers before shipping it back?

Download and install WhoCrashed then install and report back what it tells us. You might need to boot into Safe Mode, but if that fails, THEN I'd look at shipping it back. But I'm of the mindset that everything can be fixed, if you know how.

It was a new Compaq, and came without an installed OS? Is your friend trying to install a 64bit OS on a 32 bit machine (or vice-versa)?
