CrapCleaner all the way.. I have used them for many years.. And I trust them to the point where it asks to save registery, Before cleaning.. I click no... and let CCleaner do its job.. 3+ years and never failed yet.
Just remember to do another scan after it cleans until you get the message "No issues were found"

I too suggest CCleaner along with Eraser. That combination is the safest with the best results I have tried so far.

I tried a lot of these kind of softwares like Comodo System Cleaner, Advanced System Care Free, Glary Utilities Free, Ashampoo WinOptimizer, Tuneup Utilities and Perfect Utilities (a freeware clone of Win Utilities). However, finally I have settled with CCleaner - I don't even bother to backup my registry before letting CCleaneer registry cleaner do its bit. Throw in Eraser and you will have everything that you need for secure system maintenance.
    Regards,
    SKG.

CCleaner has been around for years. I have never heard horror stories from its users. Some of the others can be way too brutal in determining what to kill.

For the registry I use AML Free Registry Cleaner, which find more than CCleaner, and Advanced System Care Free. I hasn't let me down yet. I also use Perfect utilities and TU utilities 2008
