Can you explain further what do you mean by "mic not detected"?
Have you tried double clicking on the speaker icon at the notification area (where your computer clock is at the bottom right), and make sure that the mic is not muted?

According to the specification I will have internal microphone. But when I try to record with sound recorder inbuild in windows nothing gets recorded.I have gone to volume control and then record to recording ctrl selected Microphone but still nothing happens.

Pls let me know how to check whether my Microphone is recognised by my driver or not.

Or whether it has been provided by HP or not.

No help is available in HP.com.Atleast I didn't find it.

At your volume control, do you see a microphone for "playback"?
If not, go to Options > Properties > check Microphone and click OK.
    Now Microphone should appear.
Make sure the Mute option is not checked and also turn up the volume if you need to.
Try running sound recorder again, click the record button and start talking.

    Confused Screenshots attached

RAY I have not been able to convey my msg properly.Sorry for that.

Herewith I am attaching 2 screenshots.

As far as I think my problem is with my driver. My HP laptop does not have XP

driver in HP.com, only Vista is available.I have downgraded it and using

the drivers of some other HP series.I don't know Its just a probability.

Till now I have no issues in using any function in the laptop in XP .

    Pls advice.

And muaan sorry for not replying.Actually HP Compaq Pressario Laptops does not come with any Recovery CD.The drivers is to be downloaded from HP.com directly.

One thing I noticed the heading might be misinterpreted.

It should be Integrated Microphone in WEBCAM and not internal microphone.

    Thanks everybody for your time.
