Ms Word Office
Does anyone know where to get Office 2010? I was using Office 2007 Enterprise (legal version), but had to reinstall when I restored an post-installation image of the C:\ partition after a crash. Upon re-installation of Office 2007, Word was crawling and often starts with hanging for minutes. Problem persists after un-installation and renewed re-installation. Service packages 1 and/or 2 make no difference. Now I read on internet that a beta version of Office 2010 has come out, but I don't know where to download it. Any suggestions?

Offiice 2010 is not yet out for public. Their Technical Preview version might have gone out for selected people who are registered with their site.

If Office 2007 is causing problems for you, do you think by having Office 2010 Beta would solve the problem? I don't think so...you are better off figuring out how to fix that Office 07 then downloading Office 2010 Beta...
But if you still insist, then I will just let you know that Office 2010 Beta has been 'leaked' on torrent sites (as usual), just be sure to check that you have the real thing and not modified one...check the hash before you install. I can say nothing further or else this will turn to be a piracy thread...go and Google on your own.
P.S. What exactly is the problem with Office 2007? I know you say it's becoming slow to a crawl, etc. I have it and am using it on my PC and it has no SP whatsoever...and it runs fine. Try telling us what's the problem and I'm sure there are people here who can help you fix it.
Or you can just use OpenOffice or other freeware alternatives. See here: http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-office-suite.htm

I find 2007 very disturbing as well..slow and much more complicated. 2003 version is the best by far. And as for OpenOffice, I don't know about the others, but it didn't suit me, no match for MS Office.
And NO there is no official version of 2010 out yet. And if you're not a tech, you won't be needing the beta versions.
Try defragmenting your hard drive and running Disk Cleanup. You should take a look whether your system has any memory hogger. Also check the registry using iobit or CCleaner.

Thanks for all reactions.
Agree with Bluedot that Office 2003 is far more pleasant, but unfortunately it has quite some security vulnerabilities which made Microsoft step in to make installation as difficult as possible. Because of that, or for some other reason, I cannot install that any more.
Office 2007 (slow but allright) did not cause the crash, Returnil did. The active partition image which I then restored did not have Office on it, and as I re-installed this all went fine, but when I fired up Word everything moved as crawling zombies: the prompt remained dead and only started blinking after minutes, etc, etc. Uninstalled (took an hour), rebooted and reinstalled again (another hour), same story: the program works as if retarded.

Do you still have Returnil on your PC? Try removing it first before making a re-installation of Office. And perhaps some registry cleaning might be needed...If that doesn't work, then you have no choice but to try alternatives.
I'm against the idea of installing Office 2010 Beta on your PC now...after all, it's still a Beta and it might contain bugs and security holes, maybe even worser than Office 2003. Who knows?
You are better off using Office 2003 (I like it too
) or if you don't have it, use OpenOffice or any oother free alternatives...IBM Symphony, Softmaker Office 2006, Ashampoo Office 2008 (you can get that as a freebie) or if you don't need a full office suite, try AbiWord or Jarte as a replacement for Word...they are fast. My point is avoid Office 2010 Beta for now...it's not ready for prime time use.

Returnil is still on my PC, but I have disabled it, not that it is bad, but sometimes (in fact a lot of times) it works more pleasant "without gloves".
If uppatched versions of Office 2003 could still be purchased I would do that. The version I used earlier was corporate volume-licensed and refuses to install any longer. Now I will probably have to turn to some alternative, but the problem is that I also use Excel, so what to do with that. For that reason I thought Office 2010 might be useful as it seems to be lighter.
Thanks for your advice, Safeguy.
