Hi optimus, actually i had similar problem with you before but i don't remember how i fix it, but u can try to uninstall or rollback dvd/cd driver in Device Manager...then let vista install its own driver...

Do u disable the autorun of the CD/DVD? and check if u have installed any new driver, esp. emulator. If yes, please uninstall it using Revo uninstaller.

it's such a weird situation. Can you post the HijackThis log here? so that the other experts could help you too if it has something to do with malware. Besides, are you sure you never install any new driver before your problem happens?or do you do any registry defragment/clean before?

It definitely would be useful to know, just what you installed or did before you started facing this problem. HijackThis log would be useful too.

If you know how to get into Bios you can make sure your CD/DVD drive is set to the right drive...like if it's H for your DVD drive, set H to load DVD..if they aren't configured properly then the discs won't run right.
