To take screenshots of your PC, you can use PrintScreen Key (or Alt + PrintScreen) on your keyboard.
    1. Press PrintScreen: full screen capture. Press Alt + PrintScreen: active window capture.
    2. Open your MS Paint (Start > Run > mspaint > Enter).
    3. Press: Ctrl + V
    4. Now, you can edit, save your screenshot.

Or: you can use SnagIt 7. Get free full version here

I was going to say samething like Kimlanvn, it's better to use printscreen "PrtSc" of your keyboard and then paste in any image software like paint, irfan view. For keeping low disk space and size you can save it as .jpg.

    best of luck.

Yeah, why use any software when Print Screen does the thing for you. I always use it when I want to get a pic of my screen. So there it is.

SnagIt 7 and Lightscreen are the two I use.. mostly because my print screen key is dead.

If you google, you can find both for free.

FastStone Capture is very good if you want a software with some extra features. Otherwise PrintScreen or Alt+PrintScreen along with MS Paint (saving the output as JPG to save space) should work fine.
