Audio out of sync

Hope someone can help. I have converted a video clip from avi to mpeg4 and the audio is out of sync with the video. I am new to this and have no idea as to what I need to change as far as the settings, Thanks.

Thanks for reply. I said it was the converter but it is the Xilisoft DVD Ripper ultimate that is giving me the problem. If I cant solve this I may try what you suggested. Thanks again.

That's not possible, you can't convert avi files using DVD Ripper. You use the software only for ripping DVD files.
