Standby Mode
Hope someone can help. After restoring my pc I have a problem with standby mode. After pc sits idle standby mode kicks in, when I move mouse or hit keys it remains on. During this time the power button is blinking. I have to push in the power button to get it out of standby. I have Dell Dimension E521 with windows xp. Thanks.

I would think that's the normal way to get out of standby mode myself... that's what I've had to do on my Gateway M-6750.
You might want to look into hibernation if you'd like it shut off completely, as it throws all your running applications onto your hard drive from RAM and shuts down. Standby is more of a 'low power but still on' mode.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm not very good when it comes to working on computers. I was going by the way it has always worked before. All I would have to do is move the mouse and then the pc would take off. Now as I said I have to push power button. I found on the net where it said to take the battery out and the put it in again and that it would reset itself but it hasn't helped. Also grr I read the Dell manual and everything is set right. I want it to go into standby I just thought it should start up by moving the mouse. Thanks again.

Not a problem haha, we all learn at different speeds... took me about a year to learn how to rid myself of Norton... but under Linux is where I learned the fastest and the most!
