Interesting. But what do you think it does better than any of the free rippers?

If you are referring to the Pro version, I guess my main reason for going with it was the lifetime upgrades. I tried several free rippers, Audiograbber,Cdex, and Exact Audio Copy. Cdex gave me trouble and the others I tried were never being updated. The Pro version rips, converts, burns Cds along with data files and video files. But as I said, I would spend $30 for a great software with lifetime upgrades than mess with free software wondering if they were going to be updated or not. The way that technology is advancing every time you turn around you have to have software updated.

CDex has given me a lot of flak and it's no longer my ripper of choice... but EAC never gave me issues. Mostly because it plays it like a CD to rip it... and that I put a clean CD with no scratches on it in it the time it asked.

Rather odd that it gave you hassle though.

I used EAC for a long time. however after ripping several tracks and then burning them, I would play in car and one track would play about 10 seconds then stop. This happened on a couple occasions. I posted in their forum and no help at all. I was happy with EAC until that.Thats when I decided to go with Easy CDDA Extractor.

I don't understand why updates are important in a ripper. DRM protection is relatively static, and the free rippers mostly have updates when there is a change.
So updates, support for a ripper? Sounds like a lot of money for hand holding. IMNSHO, of course.

Indeed, otherwise you'd have to update your CD players so often to work with the new DRM...

Hmm... might have been marked as a Data Track... I've had the issue before and that's what it was.
