To make partition in windows 7, right click on "computer" and select "manage" from it and in new window click "disk management" there you can make new partition without making any changes in your system by using "shrink volume" option

Hi John_matt this is a simple process when you know how, Vibhanshu gave you an easy option to shrink the disk size without re-installing win 7, let us know how this worked out for you when you have time you need to right click on "C" to see shrink volume, you decide the size and a wizard will walk you through the rest

Many thanks to both friends for replying so promptly. I did managed to shrink and make unallocated drive. However I couldnot format it. It gives an error that i already have max number of partitions.

    Any suggestions

Hi john_matt do you have a dedicated partition for a factory reset on your harddrive, and perhaps a hidden partition used by windows 7, I for one would remove the other partitions if you don't need them, dowload Easus free as it gives you a good look at the partitions on your laptop and you can decide better what to keep, a recovery partition as far as im concerned would be useless as you end up with a factory reset. Once you have an install DVD then your ok, you can always back up your key with a tool called ABR and you can switch between 32bit and 64bit.
any more information or clarity please get back to us.
