    HIPS in WinPatrol?

Does anyone know if WinPatrol has HIPS features (as I recall to have read somewhere) and if so, can it be run in tandem with another program with HIPS features like Online Armor?

    WinPatrol....

Some'd call it a light HIPS, others call it a System Monitoring tool, while there's also those who classify it under HIDS (Host-based Intrusion Detection System). The free version makes use of poll timing to detect and alert of changes while the Plus version monitors in real-time using what Bill calls the RID technology...

    WinPatrol RID (Real-time Infiltration Detection)

Since it makes use of no System hooks and API, rest assured you can run it alongside with another HIPS or behavior blocker. I personally use it to lock down the hosts file and file types.

P.S. By the way Kees, are you the same person on Wilders with the same name?

No, just my name-sake, and one that knows a lot more about computers.

WinPatrol can be classified as classic HIPS, which monitor critical system points and alarm you whenever a change is detected. safeguy has clarified rest of concept thoroughly.

BTW, I was also expecting you same 'Kees' as on Wilders.
