    Firefox 3.6.12 and Firefox 4 Beta 6 in 1 system?

    Hi;

    I been hearing a great lot of news here that Firefox 4 Beta 6 fast in Windows Vista/7 x86 so I downloaded it. I use FF 3.6.12 and it's my default browser. I use Sandboxie but when I click my icon for FF 3.6.12 it frequently checks compatibility of add-ons. Likewise in FF4 I now cannot connect to the internet as it shows an error failure to check compatibility something....

    Can't they be used on a single system?

    Or is there some setting that I have to do to use them both....?

    I also have Google Chrome 7 stable and SRWare Iron but they can be used side-by-side.

    Any ideas here guys?

    Thanks!

    I cannot answer directly regarding the versions that you are using but I can tell you this:

    I ran various versions of FF2 and FF3 alongside each other for a long time without any problems, I also use Sandboxie.

    The first thing to bear in mind is that when you install the second version you need to create a new installation folder, do not use the default that is offered, the second thing is that you need to create a new name for the second version's profile otherwise you will have 2 profiles both labelled 'Default'.

    Another thing is that it is best not to set either version as a Forced Program in Sandboxie but to right-click the appropriate FF icon and click Run Sandboxed.

    If you have any similarities in locations or profiles Sandboxie will have problems knowing which to choose, which might well account for the constant compatibility checks.

    If you cannot get your present setup working uninstall FF4 and when you reinstall make sure it goes to a different folder to FF3, then check that the FF4 profile is not called 'Default', if it is rename it.

    This worked for me in XP with FF2 and FF3 but as long as you keep the versions separate I would think it should work in any Windows OS with any versions of FF.

    @Pilgrim;

    Thanks for the ideas/tips. I will look into it. Forgot about the right-click>Run Sandboxed thing.

    Regards!

    just a heads up that Beta7 was just released as well.. and so far i like it even more than Beta6.. seems to run a bit faster, and i think it was posted that 7 is like 20% or 30% faster than 6.. also with 7 (didnt see it working in 6) you can go to the addons part and now you can actually find addons through it now... they have that part working..

    as for running both together.. not sure.. i only use my Beta4 since it has come out.. I have the 3.6 installed as well and atm, no conflicts seem to be there for myself

    I have been using Firefox 4 beta 7 and it is great. I has a great improvement in speed over beta 6. If it keeps getting better I might even ditch Google Chrome. I was running 3.6 with 4 but I like beta 7 so much I just uninstalled 3.6. But I was running them both with no conflict.

    Yeah. Downloaded and used the FF 4 Beta7 and it's definitely more faster than 6 plus there is the thing that you can do with the add-ons window. Search function. But add-ons are still VERY limited(as all beta versions ha ha). Gone is the Opera like button at the upper-right left portion also. I compared FF ver 3.6.12 and FF 4 Beta 7 side by side and FF4 Beta 7 made ver 3.6.12 eat dust! Of course 3.6.12 is I think much safer. No Keyscrambler:-( for one. Only WOT/NO Script...tsk.

    The right click thing for it to run in a sandbox was good. But I like using forced folders better. That was how I tried it side by side. You'd have to place it in a seperate folder as of Pilgrims advice:-)

    Are there any add-on to replace Keyscrambler for FF which is compatible with FF4 Beta7? Foxlingo doesn't work also. And yes having problems with FlashGet and JDownloader. Will not launch. So if I download I use ver3.6.12:-(...

    Not sure why your keyscrambler isnt working.. but mine works just fine.. using it right now

    it comes up on the addons window that it "isn't compatible" with FF4 Beta, but it is.. if you install that Compatability addon, you can just click and notify that it is still working.. i have mine enabled and have been using it since the beta started.. well i take that back.. i had to wait just slightly for the Keyscrambler 2.7.0 and it has worked ever since..

    Try enabling it and check it out.. as i am typing right now, i am watching KS do the encrypted keystrokes

    Hope helps man..

    Hmmm....not working still. I do not know why yet.....am currently getting an error "Windows explorer has stopped working" but I also think that it is not related. Still am checking.
