CD and DVD players are no longer recognized by my computer
hi, I have an XP home op sys. It is on a computer I built in 2002. I needed more c drive space so I deleted a Roxio program (create dvd or something) and itunes. I also downloaded and ran a program called Tuneup Utilities 2011. now my optical drives, both of them, no longer are recognized and will not work. I have been at this for over a week and have tried a lot of fixes and non seem to work including the MS ones.
this is the error I get: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)" error. I have been in the registry and deleted the "upper and lower filters". Got a new suggestion? All cables have been checked. Both drives are in good working order.

Well that solved my problem. I have been messing with this for over a week and had tried many "solutions" and non worked. This one from Barugon is the one that did it. I have been sending it out to other links to insure other users with the same problem get the word. So my greatest thanks to you and to Barugon for this. Thank You. Thank You.
