Installing Windows 7 Ultimate over Windows XP

I have windows XP 32 bit on a presario AMD 64 Athlon desktop with 4gb ram, and wants to install (clean install) Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Is this wise? And will my drivers all work? Help. Scared to make the break as XP has served me well for 10 years!

If you have enough space on your hard disk, you can install W7 ultimate with XP. Ofcourse the two systems must be in different partitions.

Once increasing the color depth on XP in XP mode, i find it as good as duel booting the downside is it can be a bit of drain on some pc's, i still have a soft spot for XP
