Wow another alternative thanks for the info solin & Richie .
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

Thanks for this solin. I see there is a portable version, which I will download and try out. Of course I will be making a complete backup, before attempting to run it.

Very wise Bearcat. I have seen far too many people with borked systems due to registry cleaners. The only registry cleaner I would recommend to others is the one in CCleaner. It is not very aggressive, and if it has harmed anyone, it would be a rare occurance. But, it's possible, on an individuals system, various registry cleaners may cause no harm. But on anothers system...disaster!. Everyone should always have recent image backups anyway, preferably on a 2nd drive. While I may find a registry cleaner works great, I will not recommend any to others, unless the caveat Bearcat mentioned is included. Then it is up to the individual whether to take heed or not! Very wise words guys and i totally agree as i haven't used any such programs without backup for years, i like to run and test them but a bit of common sense like Bear and A Guy goes along way to making your system secure.

@ A Guy Thanks for your response. It is appreciated as always.
I have used Ccleaner for quite some time and it has never caused any problems to date. However I like to test out various other utilities to see how effective they are. Having a complete backup before doing so is a must IMHO.

Do I Need a Registry Cleaner?

wise words A Guy, BearCat and JayCub.
    100% agree.
In the most of cases those "Registry Cleaners"/"System Optimizers" even if clean mean a complete disaster
