    Search SuperAntiSpyware wont update

    Hi guys
i am facing a weird issue
    SAS Free wont update itself
everytime i try to update it, it shows

there was an error trying to retrieve definitions, make sure your firewall isn't blocking SUPERANTISPYWARE from accessing the internet
i tried opening their home page, but strangely that wont open too
but isup.me shows that the page is up for everyone else
i cant even download the file from CNET!!

    p.s.
i tried to post some screenshots, but strangely enough i cant even upload them to Raymond or Imagebam (some kinda IO error?)

Hello sourav clear your browser cache cookie first then check your hosts file and try. Report back here..
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

Ok here you go to my computer and browse C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc. There you will have hosts file open it in notepad. It looks like -

    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    127.0.0.1 localhost

    Try resetting your internet options:

Start> Control Panel > (Network and internet in Seven)> Internet Options > Advanced Tab > Restore Advanced Settings

This could also be virus like behavior. Do you have MalwareBytes? Does it update ok? Suggest you run it as well. What AV do you use? If Avast, run a boot scan. If not Avast, suggest you try a bootable AV rescue disk. Can you download the portable [url=http://www.superantispyware.com/portablescanner.html]SAS tool? And run it? It has a random name specifically for when a virus is blocking legit Malware tools. A Guy

    hi aguy
i tried to restore advanced settings
and tried to open your link
but it doesn't open for me
I did a Full scan using Emsisoft antimalware Free,MBAM Free, Avira Premium no hits at all. squeaky clean
i am thinking of downloading an alternate Antispyware like Spybot S&D and see what happens

Odd that you do seem to be blocked from Superantispyware site. See if you can download it from Major Geeks

    http://majorgeeks.com/SUPERAntiSpyware_Portable_Scanner_d6862.html

Can you get to the site using it's IP address?

Try different web browser like you are using. Use CCleaner and scan system also with Hitman Pro.

Possibly, a bug from SAS software itself . Why not try to reinstall the software and see the result. I have the same issue last year due to a faulty program update minus the website issue. The issue was resolved after a clean install.

Anyhow, for more convenient workarounds just visit SAS support page :
