Install video codec manually (no admin rights on computer)
I am wondering if there is a way to manually add codecs to a computer.. I can't install VLC player or any of the codec pack, because i do not have admin rights on the computer... this is my work laptop, and am out of town, i brought a bunch of avi's to watch but didn't think of needing a codec to play them (stupid me)
so i am wondering if there is a place i can d/l the codecs themself and manually put them in the right place for media player to pick up, or if there a stand alone player out there that has the codec built in but i do not have to install the player..
any help would be awsome as i am bored to tears lol
thanks in advance

Even if you knew the location where to put the downloaded codecs I'm afraid that won't work as they also need to write some registry values and keys. Why don't you search for a portable video player with built-in codecs instead?
Screw Google! Ask me!

There is a portable version of VLC Media Player available via PortableApps.com.
It is often better to keep one's mouth shut and appear to be a fool than to open it and remove all doubt!

You need a media player portable that has built-in codec support.
Two of the great players that I know of are VLC player and PotPlayer (improved version of KMPlayer).
