Hi curlysue. I was having trouble running the newer versions of Linux live cd's on my old PC, but when I upgraded my CD/RW to a new DVD/RW it made a big difference in boot times. Also, you could try reburning a new Linux CD at a slower burn rate and see if that might help. I have never used Acronis so I can't comment on it.

Hi curlysue,
I found this web site with step by step instructions on repairing the MBR on a Windows 7 machine. This is the only way I have ever done it and I know it works.
