Firefox.exe runs even if the browser is closed! Why?

    Dear all,

It has been a month already I'm experiencing a disturbing issue with the Mozilla Firefox browser.

As written in the title, even after I close firefox, the process firefox.exe continues apparently its work: in fact, I can see it in TaskManager.
By googling, it is suggested to kill the process. OK. That is just what I've been doing since ever.

Does anyone know which could cause this behaviour?

    Thanx in advance,
    lello.siddi.

P.S.: I would like to tell here how happy I am to be in this forum. Within these few days I've found many interesting topics and information! I've been following Raymond's articles since years; but I didn't use to go around within the forum! That is really one of the best place I've ever found for this kind of stuff!!
Well. That's it. Nice to be here. And... hope to win a GAOTD some time!

Yes. I'm sorry. I use to have always the last version. Therefore, I actually have the 6.0.1 version.
    Thanx for the request.

Your firefox is not closing properly ( try File----> Exit instead of close x above on the browser) or try to update the Plugins used by the firefox...

Go to option ------> Add on -------> plugin---------> find updates

First of all, the problem is not deterministic: it happens randomly.
And I know that it has happened even when I have properly closed firefox (File; Exit).
Therefore, I will try to update the plugins.
    Thanx for the advices...

I've had this happen to. I take it to be either a bug, or when I issued close, it took it as a bug and crashed.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Windows, where it could be one of many things.

open Windows Task manager and kill firefox.exe, or you may use Winpatrol for such a purpose.

As already said, it happens sometimes, no matter what Firefox version you are using, unfortunately

Oh, well... I know the fantastic windows world. Figure out how to solve a problem could be interesting... and Windos OS is a good battle's field.
I will keep killing firefox.exe! I'm sure this issue will disappear with next cominch FF version (I hope)...

I doubt, but that's because I've had it on every release that I've used... and I started with 2.0

Ouch... We'll see! In the meantime, I'm testing Opera. It seems faster and lighter by now. But it's just a fresh installation without any widgets. We'll see.
