Macrium Reflect Use.
My Dear Forum Users,
I've been using Macrium Reflect [v.4.3, free version (32 bit)] since last year... I've a few images of the system partition. I've used so far those images just in the browsing mode. And they were really useful!
Well. I am having some problems right now with my computer. Maybe some conflicts between Mamutu (emisoft) and Kaspersky (as leofelix said to me few minutes ago...).
Therefore, I am thinking of restoring one of the images of the system partition.
Before going deeper in the instruction reading, I am here to ask you if somebody has ever restored a system partition by using macrium reflect (free version). Is it simple and safe?
And if so, if it is possible for you to describe how to do that... hope I'm not asking too much...
I actually don't even know if what I've done so far (Backup; Create Image; and then the wizard for the image crearion of the c: partition) is good enough to restore a system partition.
I am on win.XP SP.3. I'm using the free version of macrium reflect (v.4.2) on a 32 bit PC.
Hope somebody can help.
Cheers!
PS: By the way, here is the BSOD I had this morning. It disappeared when I uninstalled kaspersky.

I myself use Acronis, but imagine it's fairly straight forward. You might want to check whs's tutorial here:

since I have seen that snapshot of your BSOD
@ lello.siddi, have a look here
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc957625.aspx
Faulty hardware, a buggy system service, antivirus software, and a corrupted NTFS volume can all generate this type of error.
or in italian here (they talk about a RAM issue though)
Hopefully it is just a problem caused by MAMUTU and Kaspersky installed in the same O.S
I would uninstall Mamutu as Kaspersky already comes with a HIPS built in

Thank you, my friends...
Now, I have got an idea of what to do with Macrium in case of total failure.
I've just created the rescue CD. And my system images are in a safe place. I don't know what is happening here. For sure it was not just the combination of kaspersky and Mamutu, but I was not able to make kaspersky working, so for now it is out of my system. I'm going with avast...
Nut there are several small issues: the skype log-in window let me dial user name and passord but eventually I can not sign in (after clicking the button, nothing happens); my pro advanced system care is not working; etcetera etcetera...
We will see. In the mean time, I thank you for the useful suggestions.
Cheers!

Something I have used from the beginning is ERUNT, no matter what backup software you use and even if System Restore is not working being able to restore a registry backup often resolves problems without restoring a whole partition.
It takes very little time to run and is worth using every day.

I too have ERUNT running an automatic backup every day. Even though I make regular images, and have a file backup program as well. Can never be too backed up

Thank you for the advice about erunt. I've read a couple of reviews plus the ReadMe of the programmer and it seems really a MustHave! I have already scheduled seven task for the seven days of the week...

But maybe this tool will be useful for me with the next fresh installation...
Cheers!

For everybody: this means that I could install up to 8 GB?
