Cool Problem with firefox 11 and 12

    Hey guys,

There is something happening in my laptop with both these two versions of firefox: when I close it, it continues running as process, using cpu, memory, etc. I have to use AnVir TaskManager to end the process, otherwise it goes on and on. If I don't stop the process this way, when I open firefox again it starts another process. When I check with TaskManager, it shows 2 firefox.exe running...

This does not happen with version 10.2. That's why, after using for a while version 11, I went back to version 10.2.

Now, I've been using version 12, and it happens again. I already uninstalled a program that was installed with firefox (optional), called Mozilla Maintenance Service, but the situation is the same.

Has anyone experience the same thing? Do you know why it happens? And do you know how to solve it?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Well, I personally suggest you to go with New Profile and about you can read from here:
    https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Profile_Manager
And don't forget to check this:
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/

Mostly this happens when plugin-container.exe start running or sometimes some other stuff like addons also mess up.
Will you please update your addons as well.

Thank you, Murphy and Zlip792 . The addons were updated, but the plugins were not. I'm going to update them and see what happens.

There is no such problem occurred (W7x86). I use, or rather, the moment I'm testing in parallel with both Firefox 12.0 and Firefox 13.0 Beta-3. But such a problem exists sometimes if use of all time only an automatic renewal. Really from time-to-time need to completely remove the old, but it is not enough to only uninstallation as it would normally done. What is needed is to remove absolutely everything what was related to the previous version, ie registry keys, files from Programdata and from C:\Users\Your Username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\...
Plugins will automatically updated by default, but will not upgraded the Windows Media Player plugin and also will not updated Google Toolbar install.paf file. These need to manually update and change.
But usually this is not a problem that does not turn off. Just does not work the sound and video files on website and can not install the Google Toolbar. I think that some of the windows .dll files is damaged or need to re-register. Or / and WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) needs to rebuild (repair) or some of File Association are not correct. I recommend using Windows 7 (Vista, XP) Manager =>Repair Center (Tools) to use. And if it does not work well for You, the thing is complicated, but it is certainly not a Firefox problem.
And yet, it looks funny, but the problem may be the anti-virus program. But enough of this for now. If you get help, it would be good to know what the real problem was. (Sorry if here is a bad language usage, this is not my native language.)

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, Kalju . Don't worry about your English, I could understand it perfectly . And, btw, English is not my native language .

The problem seems to be solved. I don't know exactly what solved it, because I've followed several of your suggestions:
    1. Some of the plugins (Flash Player, Shockwave player, real player, ...) were not updated, so I've updated them.
    2. I've checked with NoVirusThanks ExeRadar and found that plugin-container.exe was in the whitelist, and I've changed that status.

Now, using firefox 12, when I close it no more process keep running.

Thank you very much for your help and excellent suggestions.

It's nice that things are fine. Ps. My main interest is the anti viruses, browsers, and tricks for improving the system. If I can, it'll help. Good luck. /Kalju
