any difference between Windows live messenger and MSN?

Windows Live Messenger is already pre-installed for all XP users, but I didn't use this tool before.
Just out of curisoty, I would like to ask if there's any difference between Windows Live Messenger and MSN?

Its the same program but different name and new features. Windows Live Messenger (WLM) is the version 8 of MSN, they change the name and also i heared that WLM is gone interact directly with Yahoo Messenger in future.
