I've downloaded a few duplicate file finders and haven't identified a function I'm looking for.

I've backed-up several hard drives to one network hard drive. Now I'm trying to elliminate the duplicate files. Photos, music, documents, etc.

I'd like to have one master folder that would be the main depository for files and so unique or original files stay in that folder. Duplicates of files in my master folder that are located outside of my master folder could be elliminated. Unique or original files could be added to the master folder.

    Have I missed something?

    HELP

If you want to specify "master folder", you should try using file synchronization software instead of duplicate file finder.

    You could try Clone Tools:
    http://www.pilotman.com/

It is a duplicate file finder that works with folders, merge, purge all clones etc. Basically it works like a file synchronization program and finds all folders that contains clones and needs to be synchronized or cleaned from clones.

    Hope this helps :)

That is a spam. Must always be alert of new users bumping old threads with a link.

I'll let you guys try banning him and remove the built-in link.
