    Hi Raymond & all
Im new in this forum...plz guide me
Ok I've a problem with my VMWare Workstation
    My system is as below

    Acer 4920
    Intel C2D 1.83GHz
    1GB DDR2 667MHz Ram
    160 GB HDD
    Intel X3100 GPU
Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium OS

I have installed VMWare Workstation v6 into my system
When I used VMWare to install Windows XP Pro SP2 32-bit...I encountered no problem at all & the virtual system run smoothly & flawlessly
However...when I tried to install Windows XP Pro 64-bit...it said that the processor did not support it even though I already setup the system to support dual core & already chose Win XP 64bit before install the system
If anyone here did experience similar problem with mine....really appreciate them to help me
    Thanxz a lot

You cannot run 64-bit OS in your virtual machine when you only have a 32-bit CPU. VMware does not provide CPU virtualization. All the CPU requests are processes from the Guest to the Host's real CPU. Because of this, you need a 64-bit processor to run 64-bit Virtual Guest operating systems.

May be Vmware is using only one core which is creating the problem.
Try using both cores.(option is under Virtual Machine settings).

    Oh my bad :P
Core 2 Duo, that's right. It should support 64 bit. I am really not sure why because I don't use VMware. I use virtualbox.

My thought on this is that since the HOST machine is running a 32 bit OS, how can it "host" a 64 bit "guest" machine under it?
Mankind hates what it fears, and fears what it cannot understand.
Therefore, hatred is a by-product of ignorance!

    Ok...thanxz for ur opinion
If I install 64bit OS onto my system (so that means the HOST system is 64bit OS), can I install 32bit OS onto VMWare?
Or there will be same problem later on?
It's quite difficult for me to replace my current 32-bit OS to be the 'HOST' as it is a legal copy (I dun want to replace it with 'pirated' copy)

VMWare should be capable of running any "lesser" system than its own, whether it be software or hardware. You should not, however, expect a 32 bit system to be able to spawn a 64 bit system.
