My pc went nuts a while ago so i decided to reformat it. I was all well ok while formatting my hard disk but after formatting and setup started to copy files it started to prompt like cannot copy this file or that file (e.g. regedit.exe, and other dll files).
Sometimes i just eject the cd and insert again and setup started to copy files. But then again prompted the same error. So i try using another installer but same things happen. Could it be that the problem is in the hard disk or what?
I really need you help guys...hope to have positive result regarding this matter.
Thanks.

"So i try using another installer but same things happen"
what does this mean.
The CD has scratches in it. Or the files in CD are corrupted.
Try another clean XP CD & see whether it works or not.
HDD problem - very unlikely.

I had about the same prob as you on my bro's pc. The OS couldn't load so i reformated the HDD and tried to install a new fresh copy. The CDs were in good condition, but the HDD seemed to be slow. Even some files couldn't be copied so this meant that my bro's pc HDD broke down. If possible, try to do the installation from the same CD on another HDD and see if it does the same.

May be the problem is in your CD-ROM .try cleaning the lens.

It can be a bad cd, or CD/DVD-rom or even RAM. You'd have to troubleshoot one by one.

have you formated before? if so how many times. i heard that to many times of formating can lead to creation of bad sectores. must be that
tell me if im wrong

many times formatting is not harmful as long as "many times" refer to a 3 digit number.
I've seen many computer education institutions wherein students install OS roughly 4-5 times a day on the same PCs as there will be around 5 batches every day. But HDD remains intact for very long time.

Is the XP CD genuine? If yes, clean your cd/dvd-rom drive and the systens disc. Insert and retry. If it is a genuine systems disc I can not see that there are corrupt files on it.
Once you have managed to load all the tempory files and reach the install or repair stage of the setup try the `Repair Console' and type chkdsk to check your hard drive. If that is ok continue with the installation.

There are only 3 things:
-first you need to adjust your RAM with the slot
-I guess it is HDD problem. if still happens you can either Format it externally then try again.
-Your installation CD, you should get the one that is really clean (there is no paper stick on the CD)
