Hi,
The link provided does not say how to reenable manual creation of restore points.
Thanks!

Try this. Run REGEDIT and navigate to the following location.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore
The keys to delete are DisableConfig and DisableSR. Before deleting the keys, backup the keys first by right clicking and select Export.

Hi,
Thanks Raymond,it worked. After editing the registry, when I tried to run Google Chrome,I was getting the error message
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on OK to termniate the application."
When I searched Google, the solution offered was to install .NET framework.
Also, the HP Quickplay program was opening automatically.Quickplay is the DVD playing program which can be run by touching a region in the keyboard(not a key) of the notebook PC.
After reboot, the problem was solved.I read from Microsoft site that if we want to install a newer version of .NET framework,we will have to uninstall the previous version. But it is not listed in Programs and Features. Can you tell a way to do this?
Thanks!

No no no no... Don't uninstall .NET to install a newer version of .NET.
Once I uninstalled .NET and could never got it installed back.
You can install .NET framework over it.

Hi,
I think they were referring to pre release versions of .NET framework. But I thought I read somewhere that we had to uninstall the earlier versions.Sorry for that.
Thanks!
