Recently I installed for testing purpose a intergrated windows xp pro sp3 tweaked and loaded with softwares like windows blinds and icon packager. The software works fine execpt for one minor problem. The autoplay for the CD/DVD rom does not work. I reset the auto play for drives in tweak UI but this not work. I then reinstalled tweak UI and after reboot the autoplay worked for one cd. The second cd inserted will not autoplay and will play only after reboot. Could anyone please guide me as to how to debug this problem.
Here is your solution bro.You may have disabled the autoplay option.
To reset this, folow these 3-4 steps.
1. Open My Computer.
2. Right click on your DVD Rom option and click properties.
3. Click on Autoplay tab.
4. Choose Prompt me each time to choose an action, click on apply, then Ok.
You can see it more clearly in attachment.This may help you out.
Had already tried autoplay fix . Got the following error report for Autoplay V2 event.
" Result: This AutoPlay setting cannot be fixed. Either the device is malfunctioning, or the wizard cannot determine the problem." After autoplaying the first time the same cd will autoplay on ejecting and reinserting. A new cd with a new programe will not autoplay and the programe icon in the my computer remains frozen. It remains even after refreshing the page. The DVD rom is new so it is not hardware problem. This same problem exits when the OS is reinstalledon another computer. I think I will have to try out the registry fix.
@prashanthpai
tried the registry fix. This did not work. Uninstalled TweakUI and reinstalled it. All drives in 'my computer' were inaccessable and any attempt to open the drive CMD window opened. Formatted and reloaded my 'C" dirve with my old backups. Could thie problem be due to virus.
The problem was for autoplay for the cd/dvd rom drive and confined to programes/software. Will placing a new handler for programes in tweakui help. Will reload the OS and try to troubleshoot again.
Frequent power failures for long periods here is keeping me away from my computer and this forum for the last few days.
