Can't start windows
Please help I can't start windows, on my laptop. Every time windows loads it asks for an admin password but it does not recognize the password. I tried running dreampack, but when I try to copy the sfcfiles.dll and rename it, i get a message that the file is not there. Could that be the reason that the laptop is not starting, and would i have to reinstall windows or can I load the dll file from a disk? Any help would be appreciated.

Have you checked your CAPS LOCK key?

No I don't have the cap lock key on, I think part of the problem is that a friend upgraded the hard ware and said he installed an updated version of XP pro on it. but the password is asked for before you can log in

i had a similar problem with my xp .. it was the reason i upgraded.
i had the machine password protected .. then the SAM file corrupted and i could not get in no matter what not in DOS not specialist program to correct registry whilst locked out .. could not delete account .. couldnt even get in on a limited guest acc .
solution was i caddied the harddrive and change the ownership .. i now use that drive to back up both machines too ..
i had to install new HD and format it .. and noway would i password another comp.
there was no data loss that way .. but expensive £699 for new pavilion case only {in rip off britain} and a new 3oogb hard drive .. the re-install i did myself..
