    no sound after new xp installation

    hi guys,
    i have resolved the other probem with a restore.
    since i installed xp after reformatting sound does not work.
    in the device manager the sound controller claims that the device works properly.
    any clues?
    when i open volume control message says there is no active device.

    thanks

    You've got to install new drivers. Same thing happen to me after I reformatted. Use the apps posted here;

    Take a look in device manager in Properties of my computer. maybe the drivers are not installed ... I suggest entering the manufacturer's web site and download the motherboard drivers.

    Erm, hope I am not wrong here (I might be wrong) but you might want to take a look at Sounds And Audio Devices in Control Panel.

    Under the Volume tab, make sure you didn't check Mute. If you did, uncheck it. After that, go check that the Speaker volume is on. Then, go Audio,Video tabs and check that the volume is on all that. Then, go Hardware tab and check as to whether all the drivers and codecs are all working properly. After that, you might want to 'restart' your computer and see if that works. If not, then it might be due to missing drivers. If that is the case, use Google to find out what drivers you need.

    do u have ur mother board CD, if so try to install ur sound driver.
    and check if u have any question mark in ur device manager which means that a driver is not installed.
