Comparison between two Gaming antivirus
I am a pc gamer and lately I have seen quite a bit of AV's with gaming mode...and I am down to Norton AV Gaming Edition or Bit Defender GameSafe.....both supposedly are very light on resources and fast. Not to mention, built for when you play games such as WOW. I am wondering...what would you recommend?
I do like the new Norton products, they are much faster than before, but as always a little too pricey...I have used bit defender before and wasn't too impressed....Or is there anything comparable to those 2 that might be very cheap or FREE?!
Cheers.

Norton 2009 Gaming Edition is pretty good with lighter engine and lesser false positives than BitDefender GameSafe. Also, ESET has a Gaming config for ESET AV on their website here

I never use AV from now on, so i didn't care the performance of game. Both of them are ok. If you think any of them is suitable for you, you may continue use it.

I trust ESET and BitDefender far more then Norton, but in the end, the choice comes down to you. Norton's still too heavy for my liking, making my snappy internet slow down.

If I was gonna pay and didn't just use avira (game mode seems a little gimmicky to me) then my vote is for eset. Norton is improved but I'm not sure it's up with the best yet. Can anyone tell me what game mode actually does?

Apparently conflicts less with your games and more on protecting you.

Depends on ur system resources - I go for NAVG
Game Mode is a new feature that is incorporated by AV programs to ensure lesser possible gaming interference.

Gamer Mode
No alerts + no notifications = no interruptions
Optional settings to temporarily suspend updates, behavioral scanning and intrusion prevention
Enabled automatically when your PC is in full screen mode
Activate manually with a quick click on the Norton system tray icon

I had used Bit Defender AV in the past and personally, I didn't like it, but seeing as how Bit Defender and Norton are both coming up to speed for protection and CPU usage than they seem well worth it. I decided to give Norton version a try and so far so good. It's very light on resources and including it's game mode with Iobits newest software : GameBooster I have seen a reduction in my lag while playing world of warcraft.
I am still a bit iffy about just using AV, since for 1 year I had been using AVG IS and then Comodo a few months ago (which sucks now because it uses so much resources) and AVG gives so many false positives and crashes frequently.
But I figure as long as I can control my vista firewall, let norton do its job than I should be ok.
I have heard a lot about ESET and Kaspersky, but damn the price on both of those is much more than I can afford, lol.
Anyway, 24 hours of using Norton and all is wonderful!
