Terrible.. A Free anti virus is stronger then paid
Hey
You know whats really sad .. All those companies that cost bundles to get anti virus protection, norton,nod32,kaspersky,etc get there buts kicked by a little itty bitty witty free anti virus.
Avira
Avira free edition, picks up more malware/spyware then any others i have tested. I personally have tested 100% unique created spyware/worms(That i made purposly for the test) to see if it would pick it up, and guess what it was always the ONLY one to pick it up according to virus total, yes thats right kaspersky didnt even catch it.
So try it out, you will be impressed. Or get the pro version its even better. I just wish there pro version had pro active defense like kaspersky.

Agreed-It puts most of the paid stuff to shame-been running it for a couple years now,and tried the premium for six months. I'll stick with the free-it's that good.I've even seen it detect an infection that it missed on the way in,and missed on its own scan, but found it when I was scanning with another security app.Explain that one.Seen this more than once and on different PC's
There is NO substitute for cubic inches

No anti virus program in the world, pay or free, can catch all viruses. So I can make a collection of viruses and get to show result that AV1 is better than AV2, or whatever. I make another collection and now AV2 is better than AV1.
Free or pay, does not matter. If AV can catch 92%, then 8% it cannot catch.
If AVx can catch 100% today, then tomorrow there are 10 new mutations it cannot catch.
Tough.
Just use any AV you want that will not slow down your computer. People that use free AV usually know more about computers and do not need customer support.

That is so true. You can manipulate the results of comparison tests so easily by utilizing selected "canned" infections in a controlled environment.I just recently saw yet another review of the top twelve or fourteen security apps.In this test,Avira got 2/5(the lowest) while Norton scored 4.5/5(the highest)-These results are proof of what you say.Anyone with any amount of experience testing SA's knows Avira simply doesn't perform that poorly, and Norton does not perform that well-not in the real world anyway.

How about activating heuristic in all the AV ESET, Kaspersky and see the results. By defualt heuristic settings are kept to medium or low. If kept on High, it won't let you go untill it has perform its job.
For better security heuristic must be kept to high but for performance, this kept to medium.
I also agree none of the ANTI softwares are capable of encountering all the threats, but install multiple ANTI software may crash volatile OS.

Did you know that Avira is one of the antivirus that has the highest false positives?
