Avira Free On Demand?
Is it ok for me to install Avira free alongside KIS 2010 as on demand scanner?
Thoughts are like a never ending ocean where it is deep, endless and dangerous

I don't think you can install Avira as on-demand.
Most popular antivirus are "self-protected", meaning it cannot be easily turned off. Even if you disable real-time scanning, the antivirus service and some DLLs are loaded.

as far i know, there is a choice to install avira as on-demand, on-guard separately..
there are something "custom"...choice

yes you can but during install use custom install mode and unselect antivir guard option
so that realtime protection is not installed....you should not have any problem

I have Avast! as my real time AV. I also have Avira AntiVir installed , turning off the active guard upon installation using the custom install choice. I've been using Avira as an on demand scanner for over a year, and while I usually stop Avasts on-access protection when I scan, I have forgotten to turn it off, with no problem or conflict. Avast! and Avira, at least, play nice together this way. And that includes A Squared's Background Guard, and Threatfire. A Guy

You can do it as long as you turn off the real-time guard but like Raymond said, you might face problems later on. Up to you to decide.

@ Aguy...
It seems that Avast ( even on beta ) is pretty av friendly even on MSE ( hope I'm wrong ). If you have plenty of resources to waste and quite paranoid then yes, do it (via customize install : VG off ). KIS should be installed first. But honestly I don't recommend it.

I didn't install the anvir guard when I did a custom install.
I have a few questions to ask users of avira free.
1. Is there a quick scan option? (I can't seem to find it)
2. Anyway to do full scan but only select C Drive? (That one with Windows install in it)
