what to use with online armor
Ive had a 12 month licence for Online Armor Premium since August and am just getting round to installing it on a vista machine. The only thing is Im not 100% sure what to run it alongside.... Anyone any suggestions? should I go for a free AV or a paid for product (trial version?) Ive already got Malwarebytes antimalware & Superantispyware free edition on the machine for on demand scanning.
Ive been trialling NIS 2010 on the PC in question but the trial is about to run out and I need an alternative...

Run Asquared along with it, great software (just make sure you have plenty of Ram) and you may even add Avira free against viruses proper.

Hi,
Perhaps this help :
,,Avira Premium Security Suite,, ( 3 months )( but disable the firewall ) ..the promo still work ...i tried and i get this
:
,,A license file has been already generated for this email address. You can get only one license file per promotion! ,,
Or , as ,,Kees,,'s say .... use the free version...is a good choice also .
Best regards !
PS
If you want to use NIS 2010 just tell me ( PM ) and I help you ....not for long
....just 6 months .

Thanks!
Ive used Avira Security suite in the past and like all of the "all in one" packages I find that you can never get a setup that is almost perfect in all respects. Some have better virus detection rates but crap firewalls, etc... Thought that while ive got this licence I may aswell try having a couple of seperate products running to see what kind of setup I can make.. hopefully with the right choices Ill come up with a masterplan!

online armour is a good firewall but u need to use some serious av beside ur mbam and superantispyware.if u r thinking of paying for a av then u can go with either norton and kaspersky.both they are superb in detection. or if u are not ready to pay for an av my suggestion will be avast home(free) because it has a superb detection rate and very very few false positive.in my opinion avast home can save u from online threats better than the paid one .avira is good but number of false positives are very very high than others and there is a update issue with avira free. but last of all it is u who have to decide which one is best for u.

i've been using OA and NIS 2010, somthing happened to my OA, it blocked NIS, so it wont let NIS start, so completely no goes. It also blocked my other browsers (wyzo, chrome). I did not like OA at all, but i really wanted it on my PC because of its good detection rates. At the end i had to remove OA.
what NIS trial are u using?, there is NIS for 6 months from ING

maybe you shouldn't have used both OA and NIS together (if you really meant NIS and not NAV)
NIS comes with firewall, so you shouldn't run two at a time, as it would conflict with each other
either use only NIS or if you like OA (as you stated), bundle it with an antivirus product, like NAV, KAV, Avira Personal, list goes on

as for the blocking behaviour (for your browsers), i guess you can configure your OA firewall to the required settings like allow or filter, whatever the option you have with the program, so that it doesn't block your browsers
