could not update my norton internet security

i recently got a new problem in one of my clients pc. he can access internet but for last two days he could not update the virus defenition,infacet his nis community protection is off,what i understand that his nis2010 only get detached from the internet though he could access all other services. i tried to contact to norton support but it also fails. please suggest what to do??

Hi, I used to have the similar problems and I fixed it successfully. I think this problem is crashing errors while NIS is updating the virus definitions. My solution is downloading the offline virus definitions here http://www.symantec.com/business/security_response/definitions/download/detail.jsp?gid=n95, after downloading, double click on downloaded file to update offline for NIS. After then, continue to update online and see the results.

Ok, first of all did you try to update manually? If that doesn't help, check the history, in that check firewall activities. Is there anything you can find there? It will reveal all the activities regarding connecting to the internet. If there is any pending or error issues, it might be easier to solve.
