avast! Free Antivirus 5.0 Review
Prague-based ALWIL Software has offered "Free antivirus for everyone" for what seems like forever. The company was founded in 1991 and their core product dates back to 1988. With around 100 million users they protect a substantial fraction of all consumer PCs worldwide. Due to a blip in the release schedule, I wound up previewing the beta last November. Now available for all, avast! Free Antivirus 5.0 (free, direct) has a totally new appearance and offers significantly enhanced protection against malware.

*nix Technical Support
Panda Cloud and Avast are the two I recommend to people that don't want hassle, those that are more experienced, I recommend Avira or NOD32.

Anyone here knows how much RAM does Avast V5 take? Just a simple Task Manager look will do...

Why not try it then? You can, anyway uninstall it afterward. It's even lighter than my firefox 3.6 browser.

avast 5.0 is very good atleast it is better than bis, avg, fsecure, kaspersky as it is my personal experience(and av comparatives also prove that) it is superior than most other paid software in the market. in my three pc i conduct a test with 15trojans and 2keyloggers(trial)and with few win32(obviously i conduct this test in virtual mode). i installed all the virus in a pendrive (compressed) and insert the pendrive in three different pc one after another. here are the result-
no 1 pc(norton installed)-caught all trojan and win32 but missed a keylogger
no 2 pc(avast antivirus )caught all trojan and win32 but missed 1 keylogger
no 3 pc(kaspersky installed) caught 14 trojan and all win32 but didnot found a single keylogger
thought with this simple test it is not possible to come to any conclusion but it proves clearly that avast with 1billion user doing its job brilliantly atleast better than those paid version.
