McAfee update causes XP meltdown

Ed Bott: McAfee released an update to its antivirus definitions that had a slight problem. And by "slight problem," I mean the kind that renders a PC useless until tech support shows up to repair the damage manually.

Don't know why such renowned AV Company doesn't test their signature on multiple systems before publishing. It is also unusual for McAfee which doesn't post updates frequently. This is not a new problem with McAfee. See here

McAfee was my first AV. I liked it so much...
