avast and avira at the same computer and running real time?

Yes. But please don't try it unless you know what you are doing.

So far, I saw that both detect the same amount of infected files on a pendrive I plug in. Like I said, I disable one av real time and scan. After finish scanning, I turn the other on and off the one I just used. That way, if both detect the same amount, it won't clash with my PC.

I am trying to run all free on my laptop.

I also use common sense. Don't be triggerclicking and you will be safe.

I use Panda Cloud {free version} with windows firewall

Then do a manual scan with Malwarebytes plus Superantispyware {free versions} every week or so.

Plus I use a host file.
