Big Grin Eset Online Scanner can be used as an On-Demand Antivirus

Sorry If this is a very old info. But I really doubt that many of us are not aware of that.

If you try to download it from IE it will run an activeX and try to do the scanning in browser. But if you use other browser it will download an installer and will be installed in the system. You can use that anytime for on-demand scanning by launching
    C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Online Scanner\OnlineScannerApp.exe
It will update the latest signature before scanning.
    Download the installer from here
    Code:
    http://download.eset.com/special/eos/esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe
It offers all type of scanning. But no right click scan as expected.

Other similar tool is Trend Micro House Call but the scanner license expires after a scan so you can't use that for long.

I am using Eset Online Scanner for some days and yes it is effective.

How to use it as a portable scanner

Just copy the installation folder in your USB drive
    C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Online Scanner\

Welcome leo.. I think it should. As it is a online scanner and as Eset have produced x64 compatibility already. But I haven't used any x64 OS yet...

It can run on 64 bit. see the faq
Yes, the ESET Online Scanner works with x64 (AMD64 and EMT64) versions of Microsoft Windows—it does not work with Itanium (IA64) versions of Microsoft Windows.
But it will run only in 32bit IE. But running in IE is not our point of discussion...

I wonder if there is some way to configure the context menu / registry to run a right click scan. I would not think this is against the TOU but if it is please delete this post.

Anyone know how to get it to scan individual files?

@ acr: no, your request is not against our Terms of Use
perhaps ShellMenuView v1.15 - Disable/enable context menu items of Explorer might help (advanced users only)

You can scan a single file by customizing the scan...
