@gerz2405: Answer simple questions of Security Advice Wizard and see what they recommend. This will surely help you choose and harden your security setup.

Nice one....that one misses from my head. But hey, they recommend Avira for almost all choices you make
They call me the mysterious one...

    @ safeguy

Yes, they are recommending Avira and Comodo firewall mostly with other tools (ThreatFire, WOT, etc.). As they recommend freeware only, choices are much limited.

    you can try this combo
    Antivirus----------------Avast IS(you already have it)disable firewall
    Firewall-----------------Comodo Firewall(disable Defense+)
On Demand-------------MBAM+Emsisoft Antimalware Free(best would be Hitman pro, but it is a paid software)
    Zero Day detection-----PCTools Threatfire
    Sandbox-----------------Sandboxie(sandbox the browser)
    SafeBrowsing-----------Wot/Prevx Online

    Limited User Account

note all the softwares i recommended are free
i have no idea on paid ones

You can use Hitman Pro free without activating the pro feature (activate if any malware found , pro version fully working for 30 days free after that you need subscription).
I don't need to know everything, I just need to know where to find it, when I need it.

Why not use what he already has? That is at least for the Firewall... it seems more logical to me.
